Ways to Serve
There are so many great areas to volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse at our new National Ministry Centre in the Midlands. Why not check out the various ways to get involved below? Your efforts will make an eternal difference.
Join our monthly Coffee Club
Come and join us at the National Ministry Centre on the third Wednesday of the month (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) to help with practical tasks relating to Operation Christmas Child and other Samaritan’s Purse ministry projects. We provide coffee and tea, but please bring your own packed lunch.

Warehouse work
We need able-bodied volunteers who we can train to unload cartons of shoebox gifts from vans during shoebox processing weeks in November and December, as well as safely operating pallet trucks to move cartons and equipment around the warehouse. This support is also required on an adhoc basis at other times in the year.

Be a host volunteer at the National Ministry Centre
Supporting the processing centre manager, our host volunteers guide other volunteers on how to check shoeboxes, assign them to different areas as needed, answer questions, and explain the ministry of Operation Christmas Child.
Hospitality and events
Throughout the year we host a number of events for our partners and teams at our National Ministry Centre. We are very grateful for the volunteers that help us do this well by supporting with refreshments and ensuring our visitors are well looked after.

Reception and administration
This team is responsible for giving a warm welcome to visitors at our National Ministry Centre. They maintain public areas, support with refreshments, receive deliveries, and much more to ensure the smooth running of the centre.

General maintenance
We want to ensure our National Ministry Centre remains a welcoming environment at all times. To help with this, we need support in gardening, painting/decorating, and occasional odd jobs. Let us know your skills and availability so we can reach out to you with suitable opportunities.

Check shoebox gifts at the National Ministry Centre
Join thousands of generous supporters in November and December at our National Ministry Centre. Our team of volunteers manually check hundreds of thousands of shoebox gifts for safety and customs compliance before they are sent to children in need around the world.
Drive shoeboxes to the National Ministry Centre
After National Collection Week, volunteer drivers pick up shoebox gifts from churches, schools, and businesses and drop them off at our National Ministry Centre. Some people use their own vehicle for this, others hire a van.
You also have the opportunity to be partnered with a driver’s mate who will accompany you in your work.
Other Serving Opportunities with Operation Christmas Child
Be a project leader for shoebox packing
Encourage your church, school, community group, or workplace to pack shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child. You can pack individually, or host a group packing party and enjoy filling your shoeboxes together.
Lead a Church Collection Centre
We are grateful for all the churches that partner with us each year to make Operation Christmas Child happen. By opening their doors for the community to drop off their shoebox gifts during National Collection Week in November, they become an essential link in the chain that enables us to bring Good News and great joy to so many children.
